Prenatal Care 

 

Prenatal care is offered according ACOG guidelines and evidence based practice. Appointments follow the same schedule as other OB/GYN providers including physicians. Following your initial visit, all appointments are 1 hour visits  to allow prenatal education and promote a relationship between you and your midwife. Appointment will be scheduled every 4 weeks until 28 weeks, every 2 weeks until 36 weeks, and weekly from 36 weeks until birth. During each visit the wellbeing of you and your baby will be assessed. Assessments include: emotional wellbeing, vital signs, urine check, fetal heart tones, fundal height, fetal position and more. Options for Home Birth with the Nurse Midwife or Hospital Birth with another Provider.

• 1st trimester limited ultrasound (if needed)

• Postpartum Visit at 24-48 hours post birth, 1 week , 2 weeks & 6 weeks post birth. 

• Same day access to Desiree by phone or email, starting day one of care

• Home birth between 37-42 weeks  of pregnancy with a Certified Nurse Midwife

• Unlimited virtual visits as needed

Birth Plan Development

Labor and Birth is unpredictable. No one can foresee how things will go when the time comes, and you begin the process of bringing your precious baby boy or girl into the world. However, we do not have to go into the process blindly. We can create a plan and identify options or tools we would like to try to make the process a smooth and enjoyable experience. Let’s face it, the birth of your baby is a memory you will have for the rest of your life. Let’s create memories you can cherish.

IMPORTANT: The key is to remain flexible, as we have to maintain the goal of a Safe Birth (Healthy Mom, Healthy Baby). But we can make a list of desires that will help us to feel empowered to birth our way safely.

Join Desiree for an appointment as she, a Certified Nurse Midwife, (who is board certified and master's degree trained in pregnancy, labor and birth), walks you through making a birth plan. With consideration of your current risk factors, previous birth experiences & current desires, she will assist you in creating a birth plan tailor-made for you. Taking time to  listen to your desires and educate you if particular desires are medically unsafe,  she will also provide you with alternatives to include in your birth plan that will still empower you to have as close to the birth you desire.
